The materials used in these sculptures are reclaimed. The wood for the most part comes from storm felled trees and river driftwood. The metal is scrap, the glass from reclamation yards, and the feathers, mirror fragments, grasses and bits are found. My recent work has engaged with the idea of the numinous, not only in the religious sense, but in the context of atheistic belief systems, agnostic reverence and a sense of wonder. As a sculptor, I am particularly interested in the substantiation of ideas and beliefs through the enshrinement of imbued substances and objects. |
